Operation Safe Driver Week: Rumble Strips

This week, July 11-17 has been nationally recognized as Operation Safe Driver Week. This essentially means that law enforcement personnel will be on the lookout for commercial motor vehicle drivers and passenger vehicle drivers engaging in risky driving behaviors in or around a commercial motor vehicle.

The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) selected speeding as its focus this year because despite a drop in roadway travel last year due to the pandemic, traffic fatalities increased nationally. According to the National Safety Council’s (NSC) preliminary estimates, the estimated rate of death on roads last year increased 24% over the previous 12-month period, despite miles driven dropping 13%. The increase in the rate of death is the highest estimated year-over-year jump NSC has calculated in 96 years.

Here at J-Band, we acknowledge that drivers are more distracted than ever. Therefore, it’s more important than ever to invest in a proven source of safety: centerline rumble strips. But while rumble strips save lives, we have seen cases where they reduce the life and performance of the joint. By applying J-Band in conjunction with rumble strips, you can protect the joint, the pavement and the lives of workers and drivers alike. We are proud of the steps we’ve taken to improve safety on the roads through the alliance between J-Band and rumble strips. To learn more about how these products work together, contact us.

Below is a video that breaks down the safety benefits of elongating the lifespan of rumble strips through J-Band.
